With Drew Brees on the shelf for the foreseeable future, the New Orleans Saints (2-1) needed a lot of help to bounce back from a disappointing loss to the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday. That’s exactly what happened with all three phases of the game putting up points on the board on the way to a 33-27 victory over the Seattle Seahawks (2-1).

How It Happened:

Rookie Deonte Harris continues to show how much of a nuisance he can be with a 53-yard punt return that he took to the house to take an early 7-0 lead. It took a while, but the Seattle Seahawks finally found the endzone later in the first quarter when Russell Wilson connected with Tyler Lockett from eight yards out.

The Saints defense took control of the ballgame late in the first half when Vonn Bell recovered a fumble and took it to the house from 33 yards out. Teddy Bridgewater gave the Saints a 13-point lead late in the second quarter when he connected with Alvin Kamara on a screen pass that resulted in a 29-yard touchdown to make it 20-7 as both teams entered the locker room.

Bridgewater put New Orleans up by 20 midway through the third quarter thanks to a 12-play drive that ate up 7:16 off the clock and ended with a pass in the endzone to Michael Thomas.

The Seahawks tried to start a rally early in the fourth when Wilson took it in himself, but a one-yard run by Kamara secured the first win in Seattle since the 2007 season.

Big Number: 2005

The last time a quarterback that played for the Saints that wasn’t named Drew Brees got a win for the team was all the way back in 2005 when Aaron Brooks led the team to a late-season win over the New York Jets. Feel old yet?

Player of the Game: Alvin Kamara

Kamara looked great on Sunday, finding the endzone twice and racking up 161 total yards. If there’s one fantasy player on the Saints roster to keep for the foreseeable future, it’s this guy.

Next Up; Sunday vs Dallas Cowboys; Kickoff at 7:25 pm
