Adult coloring books have become a trend and sales are soaring, with AP
reporting that a check of Amazon’s best-seller list this week showed adult coloring
books in as many as eight of the top 20 spots. There are also adult coloring clubs, contests
and lots and lots of social media posts. Adult coloring books are touted as being good for
stress relief, but AP notes other likely reasons for the hobby’s popularity, including that the
books are portable, easy to use for a little bit and then put down, and require no training,
batteries or tech knowledge. Quarto Publishing, which will have 1.3 million adult coloring
books in print this year, told AP, “We cannot print them fast enough.”
