Inside Story

The AMAs Nominations are Here! The AMAs Nominations are Here!

The American Music Awards are making a grand return—and Kendrick Lamar is leading the charge. With 10 nominations including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for GNX, Lamar stands to make history if he sweeps his categories, potentially tying icons like Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for the most wins in a single year.

The 51st AMAs, hosted by Jennifer Lopez, mark a series of firsts: the show’s debut in Las Vegas, its shift to Memorial Day, and its first regular broadcast since 2022. Airing live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+, the fan-voted awards will spotlight a reshaped musical landscape dominated by solo artists and genre-blending sounds.

Post Malone follows closely with eight nods across pop, hip-hop, and country—a rare trifecta. Rising stars Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, and Sabrina Carpenter are also carving out major space, with women accounting for most of the Artist and Album of the Year nominations.

In a year that embraces diversity and reinvention, the AMAs are celebrating everything from Beyoncé’s country crossover to viral songs, with new categories like Social Song of the Year keeping the show in tune with the times.
