This Saturday night, Pam Tillis, Terri Clark, and Suzy Bogguss, three of the biggest females in country music, will in Opelousas for the Chicks With Hits concert. You can get your tickets from the Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino Box Office.

Pam Tillis called Mustang 1071 to give us the details on this concert coming up this weekend.

Pam Tillis said all three will take the stage together. Pam Tillis, Terri Clark, and Suzy Bogguss are more like a trio each playing instruments and backing each other up. This is the first time she has ever done a show like this one. According to Tillis, the idea for this show came from Terri Clark. Clark called her and Suzy up and proposed the idea. Since the three of them together have over 10 million records sold and 36 top ten hit songs, they could just focus on the familiar songs and play nothing but the hits. Pam Tillis said so far, it has been fun.

Pam Tillis has always loved to sing. It was a comfort for her when she was a child because she was a shy kid full of anxiety. But when she sang, she felt at ease. Her dad, Mel Tillis was always on the road throughout her childhood, so she helped her mother with her younger siblings. Pam Tillis said she loved to watch her father on stage. Even though, he stuttered, he was very good at memorizing a crowd. His presence and effect on people amazed her.

She said, “He had stuttering superpowers.”

Pam Tillis was in between shows when she called. She told me after we finish talking, she planned to visit with her son, and then she was going to hit the road, brave through the heavy traffic, and try to make it home to Nashville in time for Thanksgiving.

I asked what food was her favorite and she responded, “The giblet gravy.”
