Have you ever been or passed through Waterproof, Louisiana? Yea, neither have I…but it exists! It is the name of an actual town. A group of researchers from estately.com made an interesting list of the most oddly named town in each state. Ding Dong, Texas is a quiet little town that you could miss if not paying attention and who know if there really is a volcano in Volcano, Hawaii but it fun to wonder… How do towns come up with names anyway? Think there was a vote? Maybe an accident happened that changed the way residents thought about the town and finally the mayor declared, “We shall now be known as Possumneck, Mississippi…”
