Science Says 4-Day Work Week, Works!

Could the 40 work-week and ‘over-time’ soon be a thing of the past?

Research conducted in New Zealand looked at the four-day work week and examined the effects it had on employees compared to those who worked the average five-day, 40 hour work week. Scientist discovered that those who worked four days a week had lower stress levels and were more efficient and effective when performing daily tasks. Output was not affected.

A New Zealand financial company called, Perpetual Guardian, tested this four-day week on its employees last fall. The company did not change the amount its employees were paid, salaries stayed the same. The company just changed the number of hours they worked. They found that this change led to their employees getting more done. According to the results, workers stated they were happier, felt more committed to the company and had more time with family.

So this means, we are able to complete the same amount of work in lesser time and have more time off. A four-day work week means happier employees and more time off.
