Do Something Really Nice For Your Pet Today, It’s National Love Your Pet Day

Where would be without our pets? Even on your worst day, your pet always has a never-ending love for you.

DMC

Wednesday, February 20th is National Love Your Pet Day. This is an opportunity to do something really special for your pet.

Looking at the stats, there are more cats than dogs in the country but more people own dogs as pets. I love animals, all animals. The interesting characteristic of a dog is they always seem to need you. A cat is very independent. A cat will rub up on your when it’s hungry, otherwise, they’ll be more than happy to sit in a window and watch the world pass by.

According to Readers Digest, the most popular breed in Louisiana is also the state dog. The Catahoula leopard dog is the king of the bayou! I would have figured it could have been the Golden Retriever or the Labrador with the amount of hunting in the state. Many would not think of heading to the blind without their trusty retriever. The Catahoula Leopard Dog has been Louisiana’s state official state dog since 1979.

I have always been a dog lover and I can not imagine my life without a dog. My personal breed has always been the Border Collie and the Australian Sheppard. Both breeds are very intelligent and are considered working dogs and can be seen on many farms herding cattle.  For many, herding comes naturally. If you don’t have cattle to herd, they’ll herd your kids.

I’m sure you do something special for your pet every day but today, make it a really special day for both of you!
