Recently the Cheat Sheet released a list of states where bullying is the worst and Louisiana ranked high on the list which is unfortunate.

Bullying affects many children, a picture or a comment on social media can evolve into something evil or vicious. These types of incidents can lead to a higher number of school days missed and even worst, harm to the child by other students of self-inflicted injury even death by suicide.

Cheat Sheet teamed up with Wallet Hub to investigate and report on the top states in the country where bullying was a problem is 2018.  These are the worst states by ranking.

  1. Louisiana – has the highest rate of students harmed at school and the highest rate of students bullied online.
  2. Arkansas – has the highest percentage of students bullied on school property and the highest rates of attempted suicide among students.
  3. Missouri – one of several states that don’t have consistent anti-bullying laws on the books.
  4. Idaho – has the second highest percentage of students bullied on school property, one in five students say they’ve been bullied online.
  5. Alaska- has the third highest percentage of students being bullied online and has the second highest school days missed because of being bullied.

There are a few states working to address the issue of bullying. According to Stop Bullying.gov, most schools and jurisdictions in all 50 states  have addressed the issue and some school districts have developed model plans which are being used in various school districts because of their success.
