Get ready for yet another great event with Festival International De Louisiane!

Little Amal, a 12-foot puppet representing a 10-year-old refugee from Syria, will be coming to Lafayette this week as a part of her worldwide journey over the last few years to spread hope and awareness in regard to refugees and immigrants.

According to the Festival International website, the walk with Little Amal is “a celebration of art, hope and shared humanity that aims to unite communities and refocus attention on the urgent needs of refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers, and to highlight the rich cultures and contributions immigrants bring with them.”

The event will take place this Wednesday, October 18, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The walk will begin at the Acadiana Center for the Arts and head towards Parc International. Along the way, musical groups and new walkers will join the group before a grand finale at Parc International including music and a gift for Amal.

For more information on the event or Amal’s story, head to https://www.festivalinternational.org/littleamal or https://www.walkwithamal.org/amal-walks-across-america/.
