It’s no surprise that Louisiana continues to produce great talent in the music scene. Last night, another major star from the Bayou State captured Grammy gold.
Lainey Wilson took home her first Grammy for Best Country Album last night in Los Angeles. The album, Bell Bottom Country, features her hits Watermelon Moonshine, Heart Like a Truck, Wildflowers, and Wild Horses, and much more. Wilson continues her big year of awards after being named ACM Entertainer of the Year.
Wilson’s career really took off in 2019 with “Things a Man Oughta Know” and the Baskin, Louisiana native has yet to look back.
During her speech on Sunday night, she had a lot of emotion and thanked the people who helped her get to where she is.
“This is absolutely wild, y’all. This is my very first Grammy,” Wilson said. “I’m a fifth generation farmer’s daughter and I would consider myself a farmer too. Everybody that I surround myself with, I think they’re farmers too, bt they’re story farmers, and and it’s about getting up every single day, planting those seeds, watering them, and watching them grow.”
“Sometimes when you find the right farm and community, you can have a harvest of a lifetime and I truly believe that and I think that’s exactly what this is tonight. God bless every single one of y’all. Thank you Jesus. Thank you so much for the record and Academy and thank you to my fans. I love y’all so much,” Wilson said as she closed her acceptance speech.
