Hank Williams Jr. is coming to Acadiana.

The country music icon will be taking the stage inside the Cajundome on Friday, April 17th. Asleep at the Wheel will serve as Hank’s special guest-opening act for the concert.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. The tickets can be purchased online at ticketmaster.com or at the Cajundome Box Office.

Williams, who was born in Shreveport, successfully emerged from his famous father’s immense shadow to have a prolific career that has lasted six-plus decades, as he merged country with country rock and blues.

The man known to many as “Bocephus” has released more than 50 studio albums and more than 100 singles. He has had 11 songs reach No. 1 on the Billboard charts, including “All for the Love of Sunshine,” “Family Tradition,” “A Country Boy Can Survive,” and “Born to Boogie.”

Williams has been nominated for 10 Grammy Awards, winning once for Best Country Vocal Collaboration for “There’s A Tear In My Beer,” which also featured vocals by his late father. He has won seven Country Music Association awards, including Entertainer of the Year three times

Williams also won four Emmy Awards for his hit song “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight,” which served as the theme song for Monday Night Football for years.

He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2007, the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2015, and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2021.
