So imagine being homeless and winning $2 million in the lottery. It happened to a homeless man here in Acadiana according to KLFY-TV.
This is a true rag to riches story and you have to feel happy for the 58-year-old man.
Anthony Colligan from St. Landry Parish went to work every day. He used to duct tape his tennis shoes to keep them walking. At some point, Colligan walked into 1-Stop in Grand Coteau and purchased a Powerball lottery ticket and on the weekend of June 25th his fortuned and future changed forever.
Colligan won $1,420,000 after taxes and now he needs a house to live in since he was without his own roof. He has solicited the help of HGTV’s David Bromstad to help him find a crib in Lafayette. From sleeping on his son’s couch to being featured on a national tv show. This is a true story of luck! He will be featured this Friday, April 26 at 8c and then again Saturday, April 27 at 11c on HGTV. The title of the show is Lucky In Lafayette.
According to the local realtor associated with the filming of the show, the HGTV crew enjoyed the hospitality of Acadiana enjoying crawfish, an airboat ride in the swamp and Mardi Gras parades.
