Southside High took many  — fans and opponents — by surprise in 2019.

In their first season playing varsity football, the Sharks went 6-4 during the regular season and earned a berth in the Class 5A playoffs. All of that has raised expectations for the program in Youngsville.

Shark fans can follow all the exciting action all season long on Mustang 107.1 FM. The duo of play-by-play announcer Jason Burns and color commentator Nick Fontenot return to the booth for the second consecutive season.

“Looking forward in seeing how this year’s upper class men parlay the wonderful heavy lifting those 11 seniors did in the Sharks inaugural LHSAA football season,” Burns said. “They will do better than just making it to the playoffs like they did last year which was a ginormous accomplishment for a rookie program. The Sharks are primed to take their young 5A program to a higher level and it’ll be my privilege for Nick and I to tell Shark fans all about it each and every Friday night.”

“After Southside made the playoffs in its first varsity season,” Fontenot added. “I can’t wait to see what they do in season two.”

In addition to listening to Southside High football on the radio dial, Shark fans can listen online at www.Mustang1071.com or on the free Mustang 1071 mobile app.”
