If you receive a strange unexpected package in the mail full of seeds, don’t plant it, instead contact the Louisiana Department of Agriculture. For some odd reason, lots of people in Louisiana have been receiving packages that they did not order and the packages are full of little bags of seeds.

Since Friday, the Department of Agriculture has received around 300 calls from concerned citizens who have received a strange box with seeds. The packages are arriving from distant countries. The return addresses on some of these packages have included China, the Arab Emirates, or Uzbekistan.

Ag Commissioner Mike Strain has reported that it could be a brushing scam. A brushing scam is a deceitful technique used to boost a seller’s ratings by creating fake orders. According to a report, some of these seeds are arriving in jewelry or earbud boxes.

If you receive a strange delivery, do not plant the seeds and do not take it out of the box. Throw the entire package away. It could be an invasive species.

The Department of Agriculture is still investigating.
