How to Help Support Downtown Lafayette During Their “Month Of Giving”

Downtown Lafayette is seen by many as the heartbeat of our community. It’s where festivals take place and where our nightlife thrives, and its buildings are decorated with our art and culture. We have some pretty incredible organizations that have been working together to preserve and enhance Downtown Lafayette to keep it thriving and successful. However, like so many other organizations around the country, Downtown Lafayette has been negatively impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. This is because large events with big crowds are how they raise a large portion of their funding. Without events to bring revenue, Downtown Lafayette needs our help!

Beginning June 5th Downtown Lafayette Unlimited will kick off their first-ever “Giving Campaign” which will help them find new ways to support local businesses in Downtown Lafayette. There are many opportunities to participate, including a month-long chicken sandwich competition where $1 from every chicken sandwich sold will go to DLU, a PORCHtrait series showcasing the faces behind the businesses of Downtown, and the resurgence of the hashtag #iamdowntown.

How can you help DLU? There are many ways:

  • Make a donation to DLU.
  • Become a member of DLU or renew your existing membership.
  • Encourage your friends and family to eat chicken sandwiches from Downtown restaurants.
  • Share Downtown Lafayette Unlimited’s campaign social posts and email messages.
  • Or simply share your story of why you love and support Downtown Lafayette.

If there’s something you feel would benefit Downtown Lafayette please reach out with your ideas.

We are all looking forward to a return to the quality of life we all enjoyed before the pandemic. Tomorrow (5/28/20), would have been 1063 Radio Lafayette’s 2nd annual summer party celebrating the revitalization of Downtown Lafayette, Downtown Rising. The good news is that it has been rescheduled to the fall! We are excited to bring you Cold War Kids and Givers as originally planned, but now on Thursday, November 19th. It’ll be worth the wait! Get more details on Downtown Rising HERE.
