I miss the 90s….

1990s-moodboard

Ahhh, life in the 90’s. The good old days. Wow. I can’t believe I even use that phrase, “The good old days…” but it is true. Kids today will never know the glory of no social media, no GPS tracking your every move and no cells phones. Yes, the excitement of waiting for a roll of film to develop, the memorable mix tape of summer’s biggest hit songs and writing actual letters to grandma. Now, I do realize that some tasks are easier to do in today’s world. Studying and doing research is a lot easier with the evolution of computers and the internet. No typewriters, no dusty books to check-out from the library. Students in today’s world do not know the pain of a card catalog.  I remember taking a course that focused solely on how to use a card catalog. Some things are really better left in the past. This topic can go on forever with every generation…each member declaring their childhood’s time as being the best. Although, my own children are in agreement that the best movies came out in the 80s and 90s. Nowadays movie producers are too focused on implementing as much computer graphics and technology as possible that the story line suffers. All in all, it is fun to reminisce, look back on life and wonder…how in the heck did we ever make to adulthood?

Meg Kehoe has put together a list of things that parents did in the 1990s. Many of today’s parents would probably never let their children do any of these things…Why are we so afraid of everything? The world just doesn’t feel as safe. If my kids go bike riding, I am by their side. Sleep-overs are beginning to be a thing of the past and yes gluten, hydrogenated fat and corn syrup are all poison…
