Lundi Love: The Arboretum at Chicot State Park
Chicot State Park is located in Evangeline Parish just outside of Ville Platte, Louisiana. If you keep driving past the front entrance, you will arrive at another part of the park. It is called The Arboretum. There is no fee to enter the Arboretum. It is absolutely beautiful. There are different trails that circle inside the park. The trails are wide with little signs that detail information about the different plant life seen throughout the park. Don’t be surprised if you see wild animals. I have crossed paths with deer, armadillos, and hogs. But no need to worry, the animals usually take off running when they see you. There are a couple different paths you can take, from a half-mile long to longer. Walking down the trails gives you a feel of what Louisiana must have looked like before settlers landed.
