NEW ORLEANS NO-CALL
By: Cody Chustz
Ok. So it’s taken me over a week to be able to talk about the New Orleans No-Call and not completely lose my mind. My beloved Saints were, for lack of a better term, screwed out of a spot in the Super Bowl this year thanks to what I’ll describe as incompetence from NFL refs. I’m not of the group that wants to see the Saints and Rams game overturned, as much as I’d love to see the Saints in the big game. At this point, the Saints going to the Super Bowl because of a technicality in the rule book would feel too cheap to me. That being said, I still feel like the NFL screwed this version of the New Orleans Saints.
Could the game have been decided at another point? Of course… That still doesn’t take the sting away from what could possibly be the last big season for the Saints future Hall of Fame QB Drew Brees. That’s my biggest concern for the future of the team following this controversial loss to the Rams in the NFC Championship Game. I have high hopes that Brees and the boys will be back to the big game before he retires; however, I would be lying if I didn’t feel as if that may have been the Saints last chance at winning the big one with Drew Brees under center.
