There will be a huge void to the retail economy coming soon to North Lafayette.
According to the Acadiana Advocate, the Walmart SuperCenter on Evangeline Throughway will close their doors March 29th.
According to store officials, there were several factors including the store’s poor performance which lead to this decision. The current employees will have the option to transfer to other Walmart locations in the area. This location has close to 300 employees.
This location of Walmart is a SuperCenter location and currently, Walmart has about over 100 stores in the state.
The two next closest Walmart locations are Walmart-Carencro and Walmart on Ambassador Caffery.
Customers of the North Walmart Pharmacy can transfer to another Lafayette Walmart location.
Walmart is the second retailer to announce a store closing in North Lafayette as we reported earlier, the Payless location just up the road from Walmart are also closing.
