It’s a sign of the times with online shopping where brick and mortar stores across the country are feeling the pinch and the economic impact of less foot traffic and sales in their stores. The impact has proven to be too difficult for some to survive in this new climate.

StoryBlocks

It was made official according to Reuters,  Payless Shoe Source will be shutting the doors of all of their American stores as they are preparing to file for bankruptcy. It will be the second time in the past two years the company will have to do so.

Payless has three Lafayette stores and one store each in New Iberia and Opelousas.

Payless Shoe Source which is based out of Topeka, KS, attempted to find a buyer recently, but those attempts have been unsuccessful and will, therefore, be forced to go into liquidation. If you’re looking for a huge sale in the coming days Payless Shoe Source shops are preparing for a going-out-of-business sale at all of their locations.

In other news of store closings in Acadiana, according to KATC, Things Remembered in Acadiana Mall is closing as the Ohio-based chain has also filed for bankruptcy. This will result in the closure of 400 stores nationwide. According to reports, the parent company of Things Remembered has roughly $120 million in debt.
