SEC suspends all athletic events through March 30th

LSU baseball series with Ole Miss this weekend has been suspended.

In fact, all Southeastern Conference athletic events have been suspended through March 30th by the conference due to the spread of the coronavirus. SI Now’s Glenn West and Gannett Louisiana’s Glenn Guilbeau first reported the news on Twitter.

The SEC released the following statement on Thursday:

“Based on the latest developments and the continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Southeastern Conference today announced the suspension of regular season competition for teams in all sports on SEC campuses, as well SEC championship events, until March 30.

This does not apply to teams and individuals in NCAA competition, at this time.

The SEC reminds everyone to be attentive to everyday preventive actions identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov).”

That means that the following LSU athletic events have been suspended:

BASEBALL

Friday, March 13 at Ole Miss

Saturday, March 14 at Ole Miss

Sunday, March 15 at Ole Miss

Wednesday, March 18 vs. St. Thomas (Fla.)

Friday, March 20 vs. Mississippi State

Saturday, March 21 vs. Mississippi State

Sunday, March 22 vs. Mississippi State

Tuesday, March 24 vs. Tulane (Wally Pontiff Classic)

Thursday, March 26 at Tennessee

Friday, March 27 at Tennessee

Saturday. March 28 at Tennessee

SOFTBALL

Friday, March 13 at South Carolina

Saturday, March 14 at South Carolina

Sunday, March 15 at South Carolina

Wednesday, March 18 vs. Northwestern State

Saturday, March 21 vs. Mississippi State

Sunday, March 22 vs. Mississippi State

Monday, March 23 vs. Mississippi State
