Signs You’re Not Getting Enough Sleep

Signs You’re Not Getting Enough Sleep

Not getting enough sleep can affect your health, work habits and your family life! … Sleep experts agree that getting plenty of sleep can reduce stress, improve your health and keep you focused on the import things at home and work … For adults, it’s best to get between 7 and 9 hours a night.

One sign you’re not getting enough sleep is if you’re moody …   It’s harder to deal with stress when you don’t get enough sleep.  And it can turn into a vicious cycle, because anxiety makes it harder to FALL asleep.

You’re not doing well at work.  Unable to make good decisions, complete work on time and deal with bosses and co-workers properly. A study at Harvard found that tired workers cost the economy about $63 BILLION a year.

You’re making bad decisions … Your prefrontal cortex is the part of the brain that helps with decision-making.  And it doesn’t work as well when you’re tired. This could affect the things you say and do at home and work.

You’ve gained weight … Even if you exercise regularly, you’ll find it harder to loose weight. Not getting enough sleep causes you to produce less leptin, which is a hormone that suppresses your appetite.  And you’re more likely to gain weight and be overweight if you get less than six hours of sleep a night.

You’re not looking your best … Red, puffy eyes, dark under-eye circles, and turned-down corners of the mouth were all readily identified in sleep-deprived people … Even small amounts of sleep deprivation affect your appearance.

You’re “Not in the mood” … Fatigue can be an important factor when it comes to your sex drive. Not getting enough sleep is known to cause a loss of libido in women and I.D. for men.
