Summer is here, and folks are going on vacation. If your plans involve a hotel stay, beware.
Scammers are always inventing new ways to steal your personal information and your money.
Sheriff Alert System warns of a new way to victimize hotel guests. You check into your hotel and are asked to present a credit card for incidentals. That’s standard procedure. You get to your room & the phone rings. The caller says they’re at the front desk and there’s an issue with your card. They ask you to repeat your information over the phone.
DON’T!
Go to the front desk in person. They’re likely to tell you there’s no issue. If that’s the case, the caller was outside the hotel & randomly asked for a room, which happened to be your room. Getting your bank account emptied or credit card maxed out sure would ruin your vacation.
