Okra is a South Louisiana staple. We smother it, fry it, put it in gumbo, and the list goes on.
Okra Fest celebrates this mainstay of south Louisiana cuisine on Saturday, July 22nd. The second annual Okra Fest will be held at the Fightingville Fresh Market at 315 West Simcoe, from 2-6 pm. The market is adjacent to both downtown and upper Lafayette.
There will be a cookoff, live entertainment, and a chance to sample the work of area chefs. All ages are welcome.
Spots are still open for a $40.00 fee. If you’re interested in entering, contact [email protected]
