2007 – Ex-NBA Ref Tim Donaghy Pleads Guilty to Felony Charges in Betting Scandal
10 years ago today, in 2007, Tim Donaghy confirmed what many people felt they already knew when he entered a guilty plea to the felony charges that he was betting on NBA games he officiated. Donaghy was sentenced to 15 months in prison for the betting scandal. Still today Donaghy claims that the NBA has control of its referees, and instructs them to persuade outcomes of certain games. As recent as the 2017 NBA Finals, Donaghy was telling anyone who would listen that the series was fixed. Believe what you like, but if it comes out the mouth of Tim Donaghy…
