The Service Chevrolet Cadillac Top Cop of the Week is Deputy Leighton Babineaux of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff Office.
Deputy Babineaux followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, who retired from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff Office. At first, when he was younger, he wanted to be a firefighter. Deputy Babineaux began his career in law enforcement in 2005, then after 3 years he decided to switch gears and become a firefighter. It was during this time that he realized he loved working for the Sheriff Office and returned to the force full time.
Deputy Babineaux was nominated by his sister-in-law, Callie. She describes Deputy Babineaux as a hardworking officer who deserves recognition for his dedication. She says he is a hero with a “can do” attitude.
