George Strait returned to the stage on Friday (April 22nd) for the first time since wrapping his Cowboy Rides Away tour in 2014 to play the first of several shows on his limited Strait To Vegas tour at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
During his weekend set, George paid homage to Merle Haggard. Before performing a medley of Merle’s hits, including “Mama Tried,” “The Fightin’ Side of Me,” and “My Life’s Been Grand,” George told the crowd, “It was such a sad day for all of us because he was such a huge influence on me and all the guys up here. It’s so sad that we’ll never be able to see Merle perform live again. His music will live on forever.”
Kacey Musgraves opened for George, as she will on his future Strait To Vegas dates in September, December and also February of next year.
