Some Theaters Will Offer Retro Movies At Lower Prices

Governor Edwards announced this week that the state will lift the stay at home order this Friday. So that means lots of businesses will be opening up such as salons, casinos, gyms, and movie theaters. Not sure if you remember but a few months back, authorities in China allowed the reopening of movie theaters, and the number of people attending was really low and in fact in some cities, ticket sales were at zero.

Do you think you are ready to watch a movie in a public theater?

Social distancing guidelines will be enforced. Patrons will sit far apart and employees will wear a mask. I think I am ready to do anything outside of the house especially something that involves buttery popcorn and a comfortable chair. But not sure if I am ready to pay high ticket prices. Well, some movie theaters are planning to offer lower prices to watch classic movies on the big screen as a way to lure audiences to return to cinemas.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Hollywood studios and Universal Studios are planning to offer popular films and older titles for as little as $2 to $5 a ticket. Some of the films included are Jaws, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Back To The Future, and Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho.

Many of the theater companies that are gearing up for reopening have plans to limit the number of patrons and also sanitize the seats after every show. If the movie theater industry survives this opening weekend with limited audiences, Hollywood plans to release new movies by the middle of the summer.

Low tickets just may be the key to get the general public back into theaters. It will also be a good test run to see if people are interested and ready to return to the movies.
