When I got up this morning, my neighbors are playing in the snow and taking pictures. The fluffy white stuff sure is pretty. It can be dangerous, too.
I grew up in a place that gets a lot of it. I loved it when I was a school kid. Blizzards meant I could spend the day snowmobiling.
Snow, however, can be like flood water. You can’t be sure what’s under it. Ice and snow can be a very dangerous combination, especially on the road. We aren’t equipped for it here in Louisiana. We don’t have special snow tires. I don’t recommend venturing out in your car today. Police are closing multiple roads. Pinhook is closed at the Vermilion River. Police are reportedly preparing to close Ambassador Caffery. Highway 90 is closed at 88.
If you want to play in the snow, don’t do it in your car. Make a snowman. Have a snowball fight. If your fingers get numb, go inside and warm up. DON’T rub, run them under cool water. Enjoy your day off and be safe.
