The 2019 football season is fast approaching and the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns announced their promotions for this year when Cajun Nation makes its way over to Cajun Field.
The first game of the season at Cajun Field, the Saturday, Sept. 7, game vs. Liberty is designated as RCAF Appreciation Day and Former Football Player/Alumni Weekend. The game will additionally be the “Red Out”, with fans encouraged to wear their best red-colored Ragin’ Cajuns gear for the day.
The Saturday, Sept. 14, game vs. Texas Southern is Family Weekend at the University. Students will enjoy a series of events all weekend that culminates with the Ragin’ Cajuns facing TSU. Discounted tickets will be available for families of University students. More information will be circulated as Family Weekend approaches.
Additionally, for the Texas Southern Game, the Ragin’ Cajuns Spirit Programs will put on Junior Spirit Day, a day for all summer clinic participants to enjoy discounted tickets. For more information, email [email protected].
Louisiana’s highly anticipated rematch of the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Championship game will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 9, when Appalachian State visits Cajun Field. It will serve as the Kickoff to Festivals Acadiens et Creoles from Cajun Field, as the annual festival in Lafayette runs from Thursday, Oct. 10, to Sunday, Oct. 13. There will be a special halftime event, featuring Cajun dancing at midfield, with music provided by the Pride of Acadiana. The midweek game has also been designated as Ladies Night at Cajun Field.
Louisiana’s Homecoming Game will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2 against Texas State. All the pageantry and excitement of the annual homecoming game will bring many different activities and events to the week. More details about the homecoming week festivities will be mentioned at a later date.
The Saturday, Nov. 23, game vs. Troy will be the Louisiana Salutes Day/Military Appreciation Game at Cajun Field and will also serve as the “Black Out” game. Louisiana supporters are encouraged to join the football squad in black attire for the game. Also, fans are encouraged to “Take a Kid to the Game”. Local elementary school children (ages 12-and-under) have the opportunity to receive a voucher for a free ticket to the game.
Louisiana’s final home contest against in-state foe UL Monroe will be Senior Day at Cajun Field. Additionally, it will serve as the Cajuns Care Game, in which local charitable groups are invited to Cajun Field. Fans who purchased five or more Cajuns Care tickets during the 2019 season will be invited onto the field for a special presentation.
The pre-game festivities will feature the Under the Oak Tree Concert Series. Below is the schedule for the concert series.
