Here in South Louisiana, the weather is all about extremes. From hurricanes and severe thunderstorms to icy roads and snow, we’ve truly experienced everything on the weather front.
Now, long-range reports are showing that arctic air from the North Pole could be making its way down to the Bayou State, bringing frigid temperatures to the region. The Polar Vortex is a pocket of cold air near the North Pole, but some meteorologists believe that some of the air could sneak out and make its way south.
If this is the case, effects wouldn’t be felt until closer to February and into the Mardi Gras season, but it is definitely something to monitor over the coming weeks. It’s been a while since you’ve needed it, but it might be time to break out those heavy coats later this month!
