If you’re a fan of the low-cost airline Frontier, this will be sad news for
you as the discount airline says it is not returning to Lafayette. The seasonal service offered non-stop flights to Denver and Orlando from the
Hub City.
The reason for the departure was low passenger count or not enough interest
in the service or the routes. Even though Frontier has over 40,000 passengers
it was not enough to keeps the service operating in Lafayette. Ticket prices
started as low as $39.
It is always disappointing to hear about an airline service pulling out of
Lafayette, although Frontier did say they would continue to monitor the
situation and will always return if the demand is apparent.
A spokesperson for Lafayette Regional Airport said while it is not uncommon
to lose airline service, the airport has started to look for a replacement to
fill the void left by Frontier.
