Lafayette High is one step closer to their new campus as the last beam was put in place.
A major milestone in the construction of the new $100M project, now the plans will progress into walls, flooring and more.
“Walls are going to start coming in,” said Lafayette Superintendent Francis Touchet Jr. “We’re going to start seeing real progress take place and people are going to see that it is no doubt gonna be a school that is gonna bring many kids to its location.”
“We are looking at facilities all over, and again, Lafayette Parish is someone that is gonna make sure that the facilities that matter and facilities do matter when we bring kids in and it attract kids and parents,” he explained.
More than 3 million pounds of steel was used to create the structure, but the project still has much more to go.
The school is expected to be ready for the 2025-2026 school year.
