The Lafayette Consolidated Government announced a record tax collection for the parish.
Lafayette Economic Development Authority announced that so far in 2024, $3.5 billion has been collected in sales tax revenue. This news follows a record collection of $700 million in May.
Sales tax receipts are up in all communities, with Duson having the highest increase at 8%.
This news comes one day after Mayor-President Monique Blanco Boulet released her budget proposal for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. Her budgets includes focusing on improving government services, enhancing public safety, and more.
