LSU women’s trio earns All-America honors

LSU’s Aneesah Morrow, Flau’Jae Johnson, and Mikaylah Williams have been selected to The Associated Press All-America Team. Morrow earned second-team honors, Johnson was placed on the third team and Williams received honorable mention accolades.

Morrow leads the nation with 13.6 rebounds per game and 27 double-doubles. The Chicago native has 15 games this season with 20-plus points, including a 36-point performance against Florida which set the LSU program record for points in a SEC Tournament game. Morrow has also grabbed 15-plus rebounds in 13 games, including four with 20-plus rebounds.

Morrow is also one of two players in NCAA history with over 100 career double-doubles. Her 1,665 career rebounds rank No. 4 all-time in NCAA DI history. She is also one of eight players in NCAA DI history with 2,500 career points and 1,500 career rebounds.

Johnson is LSU’s leading scorer this season with 18.9 points per game. She also has five double-doubles this season and has four games with 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Williams has averaged 17.2 points per game and leads Kim Mulkey’s team with 112 assists. She also has scored over 20 points in 11 games. She has also scored 30-plus points twice against Stanford and Oklahoma, games in which Williams hit big shots late to lead the Tigers to victory.

Morrow and Johnson also received All-America honors from the USBWA (U.S. Basketball Writers Association). Morrow was placed on the first team while Johnson earned third-team honors.

LSU (28-5) will open up NCAA Tournament play tonight inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center against San Diego State (25-9). Tip is set for 9:15 p.m. and the action can be heard live on Mustang 107.1 FM.
