Actor, playwright and Texas native, Sam Shepard has passed away at the age of 73. According to reports, he died from complications of Lou Gehrig’s disease. Apparently, he diagnosed a years ago and managed to keep the diagnosis secret. Sam Shepard is face is that most will recognize. He has appeared in many of my own personal favorite movies. His face is comforting, serious and real all at the same time. He played a crooked FBI agent in the movie Thunderheart. Sam Shepard showed his gentle friendly side when he played Noah’s father in the heartwarming Notebook. And then there’s the especially memorable role, when he played a goofy veterinarian who managed to bring down the emotional wall of a cocky business woman played by Diane Keaton. Shepard could take a character and bring it life. Besides acting he spent his time, writing screenplays and playing drums in a band he put together. The band was called, The Holy Modal Rounders. Sam Shepard most recent television appearance was on Netflix’s drama, Bloodline.
Sam Shepard is survived by two children, Hannah, 31, and Samuel, 30.
