Most people would agree that cherries are so delicious! Although at times, cherries can be pricey but it’s definitely worth. Cherries are a superfood. In fact, new research is backing that claim.
A study out of the University of Delaware has discovered clear evidence that eating cherries or drinking cherry juice every day will improve cognitive functioning. This means the consumption of cherries will improve memory and the overall thought process. Scientists took groups of healthy people and for twelve weeks, half were given cherry juice and the other half were given a placebo drink. Then after twelve weeks, both groups took a series of tests. The cherry-drinking group did significantly better and actually showed improvement throughout the weeks. College kids, are you listening to this? So cherries could actually make you smarter or least remember things that you would ordinarily forget.
Cherries contain a compound that could possibly lower blood pressure. Other studies have noted that eating cherries could help you get a good night’s sleep. Cherries juice is often used to treat insomnia and gout. Scientists believe both studies are related since blood pressure regulates blood flow to the brain.
Now, I know what you are thinking. Cherries are expensive sometimes. It can cost anywhere from $2.99 to $4.99 a pound. But it’s worth it. If it makes you feel better, think of it as an investment for your brain. This way you can be that older individual who still has their wits.
