The Cajun Cowboy, Gerald Broussard, and his band, The Stirrups, will be taking the stage at Pont Breaux’s Cajun Restaurant Wednesday evening for the live filming of the Les Bons Temps Rouler Music TV Show that airs on KDCG TV every Tuesday evening. Gerald Broussard, Jr is a ten year old accordian player from Lyons Point, Louisiana. Gerald says Lyons Point is south of Crowley and in the middle of nowhere. He says the closest neighbor is about 5 miles away. In his spare time, he like to hunt duck, doves and blackbirds, play video games and of course play Cajun music. Gerald says he developed interest in music because of his family. His dad, mom and sister are all musicians. They attend Cajun jam sessions together. A Cajun jam session is when a group of musicians get together, to sing and play music usually sitting in a circle. At one of these jam sessions, Gerald met local accordionist, Sheryl Cormier. Sheryl has invited Gerald to take the stage with her. He writes music but so far has not had success. But he does not give up. He loves taking the stage and singing in front of large crowds. Gerald Broussard has won several awards for playing the accordion and has been recognized by the Cajun French Music Association for his outstanding achievements.
