The LSU Tigers women’s basketball team defeated the Oklahoma Sooners 112-78 on Friday afternoon in the Southeastern Conference Tournament. The win moves LSU through to the semifinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

LSU began the game on a 12-3 run, sparked by a couple of outside shots including one from Flau’jae Johnson. The Tigers would continue to control the pace in the quarter, and they took a 28-19 lead into the second period.

Raegan Beers did her best to keep Oklahoma around. She began the second quarter with a quick bucket to cut the lead to seven. At one point the Sooners got it down to a two-point game at 32-30. However, LSU did well to lengthen the lead back out after that. By the half, they held a 45-33 advantage.

In the third quarter, LSU did well to keep their lead. They did not allow Oklahoma to close the gap, and Johnson along with Milaysia Fulwiley helped keep it that way. By the end of the third, the lead sat comfortably at 72-49.

The fourth quarter was mostly a formality. The Tigers cruised to the victory, led by Johnson and Fulwiley who both scored more than 20 points. The Tigers won 112-78.

BIG NUMBER: 112

The Tigers’ offense was cruising in this one, putting up more than 100 points. They have been one of the leading scoring teams in the country this year, and that was no different on Friday.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Milaysia Fulwiley

Fulwiley had 22 points to go along with eight assists and four rebounds. Additionally, she did that coming off the bench.

UP NEXT: LSU advances to the semifinals against South Carolina tomorrow at 3:30 PM. The game can be heard on Mustang 107.1 FM.
