With Christmas just one week away, Christmas movies will be on repeat throughout the week.
Here’s a look at my top five:
Elf
Will Ferrell is one of the greatest comedy actors of all time and the story of an elf from the North Pole trying to make it in modern society is such a feel-good moment. Not to mention the connection he makes with his father throughout the film. This movie has some of the best holiday one-liners and has a great cast, including Zoey Deschanel, Jon Favreau, Peter Dinklage, and Bob Newhart.
Home Alone
Macauley Culkin displayed his ability as one of the greatest child actors ever he portrayed Kevin McAllister, a young boy who gets split from his family in an airport and raises 100 levels of hell in the Plaza Hotel in New York City. A wild goose chase ensues throughout the movie with multiple people searching for Kevin and he hysterically finds new ways to escape. Also, “Merry Christmas, ya flity animal” is still my favorite Christmas line from a movie.
A Christmas Story
Easily one of the most popular Christmas films tells the story of Ralphie, a young kid that just wants a BB gun for Christmas. This film contains comedy, drama, and great life lessons. To this day, the leg lamp inside the house on Cleveland St is still one of the biggest icons in pop culture.
The Santa Clause series
Tim Allen stars as a common man who accidentally knocks Santa off of his roof. So when Scott (Allen) and his son Charlie finish the Christmas deliveries, Scott learns that he must now be Santa due to the “Santa Clause”. The second and third films follow a similar storyline with lessons of life, love, and a villain from time to time.
The Polar Express
This 2004 classic tells the story of three kids aboard a magic train full of the Christmas spirit and tells the importance of friendship and belief. The cast includes Tom Hanks, Josh Hutcherson, and others.
