Monday for many fans of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball has been a rough one waiting for any news about head coach Tony Robichaux.
The long-time Cajuns head coach had suffered a heart attack that hospitalized him late Sunday night. Word started to come out on Monday afternoon, but nothing official had been mentioned by the university until late Monday afternoon.
“Our number one priority is Coach Robichaux’s health,” Director of Athletics Bryan Maggard said in a release by the University. “We will be supporting Coach and his family in every way possible. I’m certain that Ragin’ Cajuns fans everywhere are sending their prayers.”
The procedure was conducted at Lafayette General Hospital and the Cajuns head coach is expected to make a full and complete recovery.
Robichaux recently completed his 25th season at Louisiana in 2019, with a big highlight being his 900th career win with the program. The leader of the Ragin’ Cajuns has compiled a career record of 1,177-767 (.605) during his 31 years as a head coach.
The Robichaux family thanks the many individuals, both locally in Lafayette and across the country, who have shared their prayers, support, and well wishes for Coach Robichaux.
