“A Tribute To Hank Williams” will take place March 3rd at Blue Moon Saloon with folk rockers The Rayo Brothers, honky tonk band Gal Holiday, and country crooner Blayze Viator. In Lafayette for one night only, this show will feature the songs of country music legend Hank Williams.
The Rayo Brothers create an energetic amalgam of American music with influences ranging from bluegrass to blues to outlaw country. Featuring sibling harmonies and a variety of instrumentation, the band puts on a rollicking show that flows from raucous foot-stompers to intimate ballads and everywhere in between. Brothers Daniel and Jesse Reaux hail from a musically prolific family that includes Grammy-nominated Cajun bands. Along with bandmates Lance Kelehan, Jordan Ardoin, and Sarah Jayde Williams the brothers are striking a new path, infusing their old-time roots with rock band enthusiasm and keen songwriting abilities. Offbeat Magazine says The Rayo Brothers “build a unique tapestry of Americana, lending a visceral edge missing from most folk throwback acts.”
Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue were at the vanguard of New Orleans’ now-thriving country scene when they formed over a decade ago, and they’ve remained in a league of their own ever since. Combining evocative songwriting, impeccable musicianship, and a twinge of punk sensibility to boot, their infectious Western swing energy has earned them their place in the upper echelon of local favorites and helped grow an avid fan-base of two-steppers around the world.
A Louisiana native raised in Nashville, Blayze Viator heads up Blayze & Saddles – “a hard hittin’ twangin’ bar room Honky Tonk band.” This country-western/honky tonk band is likely to move even those less fond of the style. Drawing from the sounds of 1960s Bakersfield and the most notable of outlaws, they offer up a brand of country music not to be found anywhere else in the state, and perhaps not enough even in country music capitals. The group features members of other prominent local acts including Grammy-nominated Cajun band, Feufollet, swamp-pop super-group, Lil’ Band o’ Gold, and Indie Rock n’ Rollers, The Viatones and Brass Bed.
