LSU’s Cole Henry named Freshman All-American by Perfect Game.

Right-handed pitcher on the LSU baseball squad Cole Henry was named a second-team Freshman All-American selection on Thursday by Perfect Game.

Henry, who is from Florence, Alabama, finished his freshman season with a 4-2 record and a 3.39 ERA. Henry made 11 starts in 14 appearances this season for the Tigers. He worked a total of 58.1 innings while recording 18 walks, 72 strikeouts, and a .226 opponent batting average.

Henry received other accolades for his work this season; when he was voted to the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional All-Tournament team for his five shutout inning performance against Southern Miss on June 1st. In that outing, Henry allowed just two hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Henry also received recognition for his outing against Florida on April 19th when he limited the Gators to just one run on four hits in 5.1 innings of work, with no walks and a career-high 12 strikeouts. He was named the SEC Co-Freshman of the week for his efforts.

The LSU righty was also selected to the Freshman All-SEC team last month; in a vote held by the league’s head coaches.

Henry’s longest outing of the year came on April 6th when he earned the win over Texas A&M after giving up only two runs in a career-long eight innings. Henry surrendered six hits to the Aggies with no walks and nine strikeouts. He threw only 96 pitches in his eight innings of work.

Big things seem to be in the future for this young LSU pitcher. Cole Henry is getting the recognition he deserves after a stellar freshman campaign, but Tiger fans will still expect more from this young man as he progresses along in the program. All signs currently point to continued success at LSU for one Cole Henry.
